Michael E. Heier | Director and Chairman

Michael HeierMr. Heier is the founder and Chairman of Trinidad Energy Services Income Trust. Mr. Heier also held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Trinidad or its predecessor from June 1998 until January of 2008.  He is a journeyman millwright and has been involved in the oil and gas industry in Western Canada since 1976.  Mr. Heier played a key role in the growth of a family group of companies from that time until early 2000.  At its peak activity level in 1997, this group of companies had combined revenues in excess of $50 million and employed just fewer than 400 people throughout western Canada.

Mr. Heier also served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Trinity Energy from 1987 to 1998.  Trinity Energy Ltd. grew from 25 barrels of oil per day to an average of over 2,000 barrels of oil per day making it one of the largest private independent oil and gas producers in the Province of Saskatchewan.  During this same time frame, Trinity Energy Ltd. developed and sold over $75 million worth of oil and gas assets.  Trinity Energy Ltd. became Trinity Energy Inc. in 1998 and went on to find one of the largest concentrated deposits of coal bed methane in the plains region in Alberta.  This land position was successfully joint ventured with Nexen Canada in 2000.  Trinity Energy Inc. operated as a public non-trading entity with approximately 135 shareholders.

 

Mark A. Montemurro | Director, President and CEO

Mark MontemurroMark Montemurro recently held the position of Vice President, Thermal Operations with Deer Creek Energy from 2002 to September 2005, at which time the company was purchased by Total.  He has more than 24 years oil and gas experience,  focusing primarily on the application of new technologies and the commercial development of conventional and thermal heavy oil.

Prior to Deer Creek Energy, Mr. Montemurro was General Manager at PanCanadian Energy Corporation, and was initially responsible for the Heavy Oil Business Unit and later Information Services.  Mr. Montemurro spent eight years in increasingly senior engineering management roles at CS Resources Limited. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary.


Nancy M. Laird | Director

Nancy LairdMs. Laird is a corporate director with more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Most recently, Nancy served as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Midstream for PanCanadian Energy. Prior to joining PanCanadian, Nancy was President of NrG Information Services Inc., a joint venture initiative involving four of North America's leading natural gas pipeline companies with a mandate to create a seamless flow of natural gas across North America.

Nancy is currently a board member for Alberta Electric System Operator, Canetic Resources Trust, Keyera Facilities Income Fund and Synodon Inc. Ms. Laird holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honours) from the University of Western Ontario and earned her MBA from the Shulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.

 

Brent J. Conway | Director

Brent ConwayMr. Conway graduated from the Faculty of Management at the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting.  Mr. Conway received his Certified General Accountant Designation in 1986. He began his business career in 1991, joining Deloitte and Touche, Chartered Accountants where he advanced through the audit group reaching the level of Senior Accountant.

In 1994, Mr. Conway joined Bowridge Resource Group Inc. (“Bowridge”) in the capacity of Corporate Controller.  He was promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 1996 and was promoted again in 1999 to Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Conway left Bowridge in November 2001 when the company was purchased and privatized.  He joined Trinidad Energy Services Income Trust in November of 2001 as Chief Financial Officer and still retains that position.


Shyam Dighe | Director

Shyam DigheDr. Dighe has 32 years of experience in diversified areas of research in the fields of chemical and high-temperature plasma engineering. He is currently applying his expertise in developing research and commercial projects utilizing plasma technology and is responsible for the management of all operations at the Westinghouse Plasma Center located at Waltz Mill site, Madison, Pennsylvania.

Previously, he was the program manager for the programs that developed the Plasma-Fired Cupola for use in melting foundry scrap and processing excavated landfill materials. He continues to work in the areas of plasma gasification of coal, biomass and other opportunity fuels; nano-materials technology for making metal oxide powders and chemical vapor deposition technology for making diamond films with DC plasma arc heaters.

Besides working in the field of plasma technology, Dr. Dighe has worked in the areas of toxic and hazardous waste treatment, conventional coal gasification, fuel cells and ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC).

Dr. Dighe is the recipient of the Westinghouse Engineering Award (1985), Corporate Special Award (1988), George Westinghouse Innovation Award (1994), Signature Award of Excellence (1994), and the American Foundrymen's Society Howard Taylor Award (1986). In 1985, Dr. Dighe was deputed as an U.N. expert on plasma technology under the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).



Brock W. Gibson | Corporate Secretary

Mr. Gibson is a senior partner in the Calgary office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP.  He advises primarily on merger and acquisitions, corporate finance and energy transactions.  His clients include energy and power companies, investment dealers, income funds and services and technology companies.  He also has extensive experience in all aspects of energy and power-related transactions, as well as corporate, securities, governance and trust matters affecting energy and power entities.

Scott W. N. Clarke | Assistant Corporate Secretary

Mr. Clarke is a partner with the Calgary office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, one of Canada’s leading business law firms, where he has practiced since 1997.  Mr. Clarke’s practice has a primary focus on securities and transactional corporate matters.  Mr. Clarke principally represents a broad range of resource-based, oilfield services and energy sector clients, including alternative energy.
