Chief Executive Officer

Walter brings extensive experience in business development, project finance, and operations within the electric and water utility industries. He has held CEO, COO, CFO, and SVP positions with utility leaders including General Electric, US Generating (an affiliate of Pacific Gas & Electric and Bechtel), Noble Environmental Power, GE Capital and J. Makowski Co. Inc (partly owned by Duke Power).

Walter’s career spans more than 30 years of successfully executed technology development and implementation, project development and execution and project finance.  He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from Cornell University and a MBA from Harvard University.

 

Alter NRG - Danny Hay, CFODanny Hay

Chief Financial Officer

Joining Alter NRG in 2006, Danny is one of three original employees. He is a Chartered Accountant and has previous experience as a CFO at public oil and gas companies. In 2007 he led the complex process of taking Alter NRG public and was central in evaluating the company’s readiness and assessing market acceptance.

In addition to his role as CFO wherein he oversees the finance and accounting of Alter NRG, he also successfully leads the company’s investor relations initiatives as well as corporate finance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary.

 

Alter NRG - Richard Fish, PresidentRichard Fish

President

Richard joined Alter NRG in 2009 as Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. He transitioned to Chief Operating Officer in late 2009 where his process focus and guidance led the Plasma group to positive operating results for the first time in company history. Richard was appointed President of Alter NRG in late 2010 where his strong track record in restructuring was leveraged.  With 30 years of experience, Richard has held senior executive positions in private equity and industrial manufacturing. From start-ups to companies generating billions of dollars, he has led turnarounds, developed strategies, improved top and bottom line growth and driven internal process improvements.

At Workhorse Custom Chassis (a portfolio of The Carlyle Group) Richard led global sales, strategic partnerships and acquisitions.  At Universal Trailer Corp (a portfolio of Dubin Clark and Company) he led worldwide sales and strategy efforts. Prior to joining Alter NRG, Richard held the position of Portfolio CEO and Operating Partner with Monomoy Capital Partners, a private equity fund. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Virginia.

 

Kevin Willerton, Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Business DevelopmentKevin Willerton

Kevin has been working with Alter NRG in a business development role since 2006.  He is responsible for the company’s marketing and sales activities throughout Europe and his company’s relationship with Air Products, the company currently constructing a 2,000 tonne per day plasma gasification facility in NE England.

Before moving to Alter NRG, Kevin had 20 years of experience in the electricity industry, the majority of which was in a business development capacity.  He was responsible for one power company’s entry into wind power.  He held numerous roles at another major power company including business development, marketing, commodity risk management and engineering.  Kevin has worked in countries around the globe, including China, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and throughout Europe.

Kevin is a Professional Engineer, has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and an MBA from the University of Calgary.

 

Mark Wright, Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Business DevelopmentMark Wright

Accomplished executive with over 25 years of domestic and international experience in business operations, profit & loss oversight, sales management, and product and service marketing for both start-up and growth corporations. Results oriented decisive leader with proven success in strategic market positioning for multi-million dollar energy industry organizations. Track record of successfully increasing share holder value by exceeding sales and bottom line performance while spearheading operational efficiency improvements to drive productivity and reduce cost.

Mark has also provided executive leadership for sales, marketing, and sales force management. Consistently achieved and exceeded sales and profit expectations and led operations and strategic direction with complete profit and loss responsibility for multi-million dollar organizations. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa (Bachelor of Science, 1986) and has completed several professional training courses sponsored by General Electric Company.

 

Ken Willis, Vice President, Strategic Alliances & Business DevelopmentKen Willis

As a former Executive Vice President for ENMAX Corporation, Ken has experience strategically stewarding business growth and expansion. He has an extensive background in the Canadian electricity sector with over 30 years of experience in business development, engineering, regulatory and commercial aspects of the energy industry.

Ken brings a deep portfolio of strong relationships with industry participants, regulatory agencies, municipal leaders and government representatives. Ken is a Professional Engineer with an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a MBA (Finance) from the University of Calgary.

Bruce-LeonardBruce Leonard

Vice President, Business Development

Bruce has been with Alter NRG since 2007 and brings 13 years’ experience in the energy industry focused on M&A, commodity trading, Corporate Development and Sales.

His primary focus at Alter NRG has been to lead a team that is focused on the development of our commercial gasification product offering, and its deployment into global markets.

Vice President, Sales Engineering

Alex holds chemical engineering and MBA degrees from the University of Alberta. He has been with Alter NRG since its inception and is focused on advancing plasma gasification towards commercial acceptance globally. In his prior experience, Alex advanced several plasma based high temperature processes from lab to commercial scale.

He has previously worked in the fields of physical vapour deposition, reaction sintering, gasification and coal upgrading. With Alter NRG, Alex has held the positions of Lead Engineer, Director – Global Technology and is currently Vice President – Sales Engineering.
