Economics
Converting waste streams into energy is economic at current prices - syngas can be created from $2 to $4 per MMbtu and power from $0.003 to $0.005 per kWh, net of tipping fees and by-product revenues. This provides for a low cost and a sustainable energy solution.

- Energy recovery from waste projects benefit from multiple revenue streams, including:
- Tipping fees (a cost paid to dispose of waste materials at a landfill or WTE facility)
- Energy revenues from the sale of power, steam, ethanol or other fuel products; and
- The sale of byproducts such as recovered metals or vitrified slag (for use in construction)
- Energy recovery from waste project returns are projected to be in the range of 15 to 30% in areas of high population density
- Growing support for environmentally responsible waste treatment solutions from various governing bodies is accelerating the acceptance of plasma gasification of waste and providing financial support through:
- municipal bonds
- tax incentives
- green pricing
- renewable credits
- grants
- loan guarantees
